War and Death at Sea I wasnt opinion about state of fight when I get together the military. At the clock, I made the decision to join for the educational opportunities. I was in like manner in a dead end job and the root word of having a career in the Avionics field excited me. In fact, I dont think I had of all time really contemplated what being at war meant to me and what role I might play when I took that oath of enlistment in the US Navy. Over the course of my life prior to joining, I had only known about one major war and I was too young to be light uponed by Vietnam. But over the 20 years I served our country, I would come very close to understanding what that word meant and how it would imply me. In June of 2002 I was sent out to sea onboard the aircraft toter USS Abraham Lincoln. Our mission was to patrol the waters surrounding the raging Iraq conflict. posterior a routine six month deployment, we were headed home, or so I thought . Unfortunately our mission removed very quickly and we were headed cigaret to Iraq for war. Our new mission was called Operation Shock and Awe and the go did not disappoint. Every night on the ship, all trio hangar bays were filled with either type of missile that we carried and each morning after, those hangar bays were empty.

This little realization is what started my thought go about what we were actually doing. We were launching missions to drop those missiles on designated targets. I soon learned that some of the intelligence we were acting on was incorrect and ultimately innocent hu man beings were killed. I found myself in a state of conflict. The irony was that I was and still am a patriotic person. I wanted to serve my country moreover didnt believe in war unless it was the last resort.
